Ishaan Kunwar

Meet Our Founder
Ishaan Kunwar founded Youth For Elders Foundation with a simple belief: meaningful connections between generations can transform lives.
He started the organization while still in high school after recognizing how many older adults experience loneliness and how something as simple as a conversation, a helping hand, or teaching a new technology skill can bring joy, confidence, and companionship.
What began as a small community initiative has grown into a youth-led nonprofit that inspires students to volunteer, build genuine friendships with older adults, and create stronger, more connected communities. Through visits to senior centers, community events, technology support, wellness activities, and one-on-one interactions, the foundation empowers both youth and elders to learn from one another.
In 2026, Ishaan began studying Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University, where he continues to combine his passion for technology, leadership, and community service. He believes innovation is most meaningful when it improves people’s lives and brings communities closer together.
His vision is to inspire young people everywhere to lead with compassion, serve with purpose, and create lasting intergenerational connections.

It began during the quiet days of the pandemic when I walked through our neighborhood with my mom. We noticed a common thread of loneliness among the elderly, a void that seemed to grow wider with each passing day. At the same time, I saw my peers bursting with potential but often disconnected from the rich tapestry of experience and stories our elders hold. That's when it clicked for me—why not bring these two worlds together?
The Youth for Elders Foundation's vision is simple yet profound: to bridge the gap between generations, facilitating a flow of wisdom, energy, and joy in both directions. We believe in creating a community where everyone, regardless of age, feels valued, heard, and connected. Our initiatives, from tech workshops for elders to intergenerational storytelling sessions, are designed to foster understanding, respect, and mutual learning.
But this vision isn’t something I can achieve alone. It requires the collective effort of individuals who believe in the power of connection and community. That’s where you come in.
